I'm sure you probably viewed or at least have heard the results of the Champions League Draw for the Round of 16, which was held in Nyon, Switzerland, earlier today.
A very transparent draw it was, with very amazing results, which have kept hearts racing and fingers crossed.
Once again, here are the 16 teams as they are to battle it out in the knock-out stage of the 2012/2013 Champions League trophy chase:
Galatasaray vs FC Schalke
Celtic FC vs Juventus
Arsenal FC vs FC Bayern Munchen (Munich)FC Shakhtar Donetsk vs Borussia Dortmund
AC Milan vs FC Barcelona
Real Madrid CF vs Manchester United FC
Valencia CF vs Paris Saint-Germain
FC Porto vs Malaga CF
Hmmmm....Intriguing, right? For most Naija peeps, there are three must-see matches, which are the ones involving Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona. Yes, I must see them too, God-willing. The first leg of this round of matches would be held on February 12, 13, 19 or 20, with the reverse ties on March 5, 6, 19 or 20.
Now, the questions are:
Can Arsenal surmount the German machines? Ummm...for me, the chances are slim, judging by both teams' performances so far; but this is football, so anything is possible.
Will Barca edge-out Milan again, like they did last season? We know that Ibrahimovic is out but El Shaarawy is not a simple nut to crack either.
And the most anticipated of these three would be the double 'M' - Madrid vs Man-U. Ronaldo would be returning to Old Trafford to exhibit his improvement (or lack of it) since he left Man-U. Some people have been asking whether he would celebrate if he scores against Man-U...I don't know but Ronaldo being himself, I think so. Don't quote me, tho, I'm not a fortune-teller. Lol. The strengths of both teams cannot be quantified but in the end, one of them would have to exit the tournament; sad, I must say. The way I perceive that match, however, and judging by past meetings, hmmmm...Madrid may muscle through...Man-U fans, abeg, make una no vex o, na play I just dey play. Till then!
So, folks, make your predictions with respect to wins and goal ratio. And guess what? Some fantastic prizes - I mean really fantastic prizes - would be given to best guessers. So, send them in, as we await these Titanic clashes.
